Volvo Trucks of North America is proud to announce Surgenor Truck Group as the sixth and seventh Canadian dealership to have completed the comprehensive requirements to become a Volvo Truck Certified Electric Vehicle Dealer. Both Kingston and Ottawa locations are now certified to support the growing regional interest in Class 8 electric trucks.
"Recent Volvo VNR Electric deployments in Canada have demonstrated the effectiveness and reliability of our Class 8 battery-electric model in the extreme cold of a Canadian winter," said Peter Voorhoeve, president, Volvo Trucks North America. "The steady expansion of our Volvo Trucks Certified EV dealership network in Canada is a testament to increasing customer confidence to begin integrating battery-electric trucks into their fleet, so much so that dealerships like Surgenor Truck Group are certifying multiple locations at the same time to meet current demand and be prepared for a large scale-up of electromobility in the near future."
Surgenor continues to receive multiple requests about the availability of the Volvo VNR Electric model. Cities and local governments are taking the steps to evaluate which of their routes are most ideal for electrification, and the right Volvo VNR Electric configurations to suit their needs. Surgenor Truck Group's multiple locations are now certified to assist customers throughout the transition to electrifying their fleets. The sales team has invested in many hours of training to utilize the Volvo Trucks' route planning tool to be able to evaluate the business impact of purchasing and operating the Volvo VNR Electric trucks.
"Our dealerships want to play a key role in the evolution of the trucking industry, so our team worked hard to complete the Volvo Trucks Certified EV Dealer program in just six months for both locations," Steve Wickett, general manager, Surgenor Truck Group. "The training and certification process was straightforward, and our sales and service teams are now prepared and excited to support local fleets with their electromobility transition."
Surgenor now has two technicians at each location that are fully trained to meet the service requirements of electric fleets operating Volvo trucks. The certified EV dealership program ensures dealerships have been trained and have the proper equipment to perform battery-electric truck maintenance safely. The Kingston and Ottawa locations both have dedicated EV service bays and technicians are outfitted with the proper personal protective gear to work with high-voltage systems. 50 kw fast chargers are available at both locations to support the charging of battery-electric trucks.
Contact an EV truck specialist at one of the Surgenor locations to discuss the business impact of converting to electric trucks, the total cost of ownership, and Volvo EV truck configurations to suit your operations.
"Our sales and service teams are now prepared and excited to support local fleets with their electromobility transition." "
